Marketing and the internet

Little Miss Sunshine
1) What types of information can we learn about the film and the actors from this website?
This gives us soo much information about practically all the aspects of the film and the actors film histories. There are different pages for each actor alongside information about the film itself. There are pages on Production, the film directors, the storyline, downloads and how to get only extras for example on myspace and your mobile.

2) Is the website interactive for the consumer and in what ways?
The whole site is interactive as to gain information you have to explore the site by choosing different figures that lead you to a different page and different information about the film. Each page also comes with a mini clip of the film so if you do not want to read the information you can be entertained by the clips of the film, this may make you more likely to go and see the film if the clips appeal to you favourite style of films.

 3) Which marketing strategies are evident on this website?
The marketing strategies are evident on the website because there are lots of links to things you can buy such as the soundtrack on itunes, the website makes it clear that there are lots of things the consumer can buy that link to the film such as links to one of the actors bands, where to get a VW van similar to one in the film, and links to the YouTube community.

4)Why do you think these methods are being used for this film?
We think these methods are being used for this film because as the film is a non-mainstream film, the fact that it has a website and has so many links to things related to the film it makes it less of a Niche film and more accessible. The mass use of information also helps this film as people are more likely to become interested as all the info is in one place, you don't have to go around hunting to see more about the film. This also links with the actors pages, if you are a fan of a certain actor then you are more likely to go and see the film.

Misfits
1) What types of information can we learn about the show, characters and actors?
We actually learn alot about the characters via a character page specifically for said character, this includes a paragraph about their personality, the power and their general life. But we found out very little about the actual actors, their names were on their character page but there was nothing about what they have done or what else they have been in admittedly they do have episode guides that answer a few questions about what is going on.
We can find out about the first series via a web page but there is nothing for any of the series after so it means that you have to go hunting the internet to see what is/has happened.

2) How many links are there with other forms of social media e.g Facebook?
They are linked to: Facebook, Twitter, they have blog, videos, music links and online games.

3) Is the website interactive in any other ways?
The website is interactive in the ways that there are online games as well as having quizzes about the show/characters.

4)Is the website easy to use and accessible to all?
In some ways the website is easy to use because of the drop down menu and the way everything is named, but on the other hand the pure substance of information is overwhelming, along with the apparent need of adding links, videos and other websites such as Facebook.

5)Research into wider maketing strategies on the web as well as the website; is there a buzz being created for the show?
The maketing strategies used were viral marketing due to how the show has set up Twitter and Facebook pages for the characters and even if you don't watch the tv programme it is hard to escape it.
