Crowd sourcing

"Crowd sourcing is the act of taking a job traditionally performed by a designated employee and outsourcing it to an undefined, generally large group of people in the form of an open call." - Jeff Howe

What does this video believe is the key to successful crowd sourcing?

The video believes the key to successful crowd sourcing is managed focused crowds.

Why do 'crowds' form on the internet? Are you part of an online crowd if so which?

Crowds form on the internet due to similar interests and skills. We are part of an online crowd which is Tumblr, Polyvore and facebook.

What are the crucial terms in Jeff Howe's idea of crowdsourcing? Why are these crucial?

Open call and undefined, these are crucial because nobody knows what type of person will do your job best.

Two reasons why this type of crowdsourcing is now possible:
1) Because the technology has now advanced so far that it is easy to crowdsource
2) Because of the sheer amount of people on the internet it has now become easier to find more skilled people

The crowdsourcing project works by having each person draw one line and alter the opacity of other people's lines.

How effective do you believe it to be?
On some images it works and on others it doesn't because others have different ideas of how they want the picture to turn  out like and its hard to envision that with just drawing one line.

What do you think was the motivation behind using crowdsourcing for this project?
We think creativity and being artistic was the motivation behind using crowdsourcing, this is because it combines lots of different people's imagination and vision to create something unique.
